Music Teachers Association of California

This is the state organization for music teachers in California. They are most known for offering the Certificate of Merit (CM) Exam. In very rare cases, Opus 1 will sponsor a teacher’s membership with specific requirements. Approval is required and is only administered under necessity of student interests and demands to participate in CM Exams.

National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS)

This organization specifically caters to voice teachers and working with students privately and in group settings.

Music Teachers National Association

This national organization offers membership for all instrument and vocal areas. They are most known for their massive national conference and centralized discussion on important topics for teaching. This is sometimes largely targeted toward public school teachers (orchestra, band, choir, etc.) but has a segment of teachers who teach private lessons.

American String Teachers Association

This organization is aimed toward teachers of string instruments and provides publications, events, and teaching resources (many of which are available for free on their website).
