DESCRIPTION

Have you always wanted to learn to play piano? Perhaps you want to learn skills that will help guide your own child’s learning or give yourself some “me” time for pursuing a new passion. Our beginner Adult Piano Class is the next step for you!

Our weekly 60-minute class uses a structured curriculum and materials that will develop your talent and ability. Your instructor will lead you to understanding music and your instrument, learn to read a music score, steady rhythm and different beats, listening skills as well as theory, the science of making music. Together with fellow adult students you’ll learn several different styles of music such as classical, blues, pop music. and more within a fun and supportive atmosphere. Pieces will include both solo and group music.

Yamila is both a classical concert pianist and teacher with more than 25 years of teaching and performing experience in both classical and jazz music. A graduate of the Pablo Casals Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico and the Peabody Institute of Music of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, she received training from Jesus Maria Sanroma, Ellen Senofsky, and master classes with Leon Fleisher among other big performers.

Yamila has performed as a pianist and directed musical theater in Puerto Rico, Maryland, Arizona, and California. Her teaching career consists of positions at high-level well-respected schools starting from the Pablo Casals Conservatory of Music, Sonoma State University Pre-College Programs, and both private and public schools. She has created and implemented her own music, Spanish and theatrical arts programs. Her students have excelled at all levels of performances including musical theater productions, radio, and TV recordings, and competitions including the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC) advanced piano competition, which Ms. Taboas has also served as a judge for.
